The cultural memory of the Lower Engadine
The Archiv Cultural Engiadina Bassa in Strada collects, archives and arranges all historical documents that refer to the Lower Engadine. There are no limitations in terms of subject matter and the existing documents cover the areas of the arts, architecture, archaeology, history, photography, literature, music and natural science.The cultural archive was opened in 2011 in the earlier schoolhouse at S-chadatsch near Strada, although the actual collecting activity goes back for years. The archive catalogue, which is also available online, is managed in cooperation with the Culture Archive of the Upper Engadine in Samedan.The archive is being constantly expanded by bequests from private individuals and organisations. The corresponding work is performed by 15 honorary helpers.The documents at the Lower Engadine Cultural Archive go back from the 14th century to the present day.
