Fundaziun Foto Feuerstein
The era of the Feuerstein photographers in Scuol lasted for more than 100 years. The Feuerstein photographer dynasty is one of the well-known families of photographers in Graubünden, alongside families such as the Rauch or Guler.
Johann Feuerstein (1871–1946) took up photographing in the Lower Engadin shortly before 1900. His son Domenic (1900–1949) and later Domenic’s sons Jon (1925–2010) and Mic (1928–2004) followed in his footsteps.
After Jon Feuerstein’s death in 2010, the last member of the dynasty of photographers to date, his widow Gertrude Feuerstein, along with other relatives, sought solutions for managing the photographic archive he had left behind.
The foundation's overarching objectives include the following:
1. Securing the photographic holdings
2.Preserving the photo collection
3. Publishing the holdings
