Kulturarchiv Thusis-Viamala
The historical memory of Thusis
The Kulturarchiv Thusis-Viamala collects and preserves documents of all kinds relating to the history of the village of Thusis and its surrounding areas, such as the nearby Viamala gorge. The collection consists primarily of written documents, photos and literature about Thusis and its surroundings. The written documents include, for instance, the journeyman papers of a barber and surgeon from Thusis, dating from 1661. The photo archive allows visitors to trace the structural development of Thusis over the last few decades, among other things. The literature section includes works on local folklore and history, such as the "Heimatbuch Thusis-Viamala". The Kulturarchiv Thusis-Viamala does not merely collect and preserve objects, it also actively engages with the public through lectures, guided tours and press releases.
