Museum Vaz/Obervaz
The Museum of the Lenzerheide Tourist Region
In the rooms of a previous Capuchin hospice and its stables, the local museum documents the history of the extensive community of Vaz/Obervaz with the spas Lenzerheide and Valbella. The collection includes more than 5000 objects. On display are historic rooms and workshops in their entirety: an Alpine pasture (Maiensäss) kitchen, a weaving workshop, still used today, a forge, a wheelwright’s shop, and a functioning mill. A central focus of the collection is the history of the 20th century, when the Alpine pastures of Lenzerheide and Valbella, set within the predominantly agricultural region, were developed into spa resorts. The collection at the Vaz local Museum, Zorten, features some 5,000 exhibits, including very historical workplaces such as a weaving room, a smithy and a wainwright’s workshop, as well as a mill. In the adjoining Sala Parpan, works by sculptor Ferdinand Parpan are display in annual rotation with works of contemporary culture.
