Schaubergwerk Silberberg
Glimpse into early mining in Graubünden
In the Middle Ages and into the 19th century, lead and zinc ore were mined on a large scale in the mine at Silberberg near Davos Monstein and processed in places outside the immediate region. The tunnels, shafts, ore routes and ruins of the buildings still stand in evidence of the former mining facilities, the first industry in the canton of the Grison. The exhibition mine on Silberberg, 250 meters above Schmelzboden, provides an insight into the technology and living conditions of the earlier mining industry.
