Rope and Holzspollä (Verschlagholz = Toggle)

Well tied is half the journey. The rope was used to tie down loads of wood and hay on a ladder wagon. For hay loads, a Wissbomm (4 m long, approx. 10 cm in diameter) was used as well. We boys wanted to do an extra good job and pulled on it so hard that the Wissbomm broke — which made my father quite angry with us.
