Granite from the Moesa River

To me, this piece of granite represents the canton of Graubünden because it has the shape of a mountain – and of course, we have many mountains here in Graubünden. The first mountain I climbed was the San Jorio Pass when I was six years old. It was a wonderful experience that I remember well. My parents explained to me then that the San Jorio connects Switzerland with Italy and that my roots lie in both countries. It’s important that we treat our natural environment, the mountains and glaciers with greater care in the future.
