Barley Grains
The introduction of religious freedom was a major step forward, even though at the time it caused people to die or flee to the Engadin to save their own skins. However, I can share a special story from those days: the Protestant community had a “mountain of mercy” — not one made up of money, but of seeds. This is evidenced by a large book preserved in our archive. A wooden sieve filled with seeds was donated on the condition that the same number of seeds would later be given to another person in need.
