Klosterarbeit # Marian Mediation

So-called Klosterarbeiten, are devotional artworks steeped in tradition. This work draws on the Baroque tradition, featuring characteristic elements: an image of the Virgin Mary, gold wire, pearl flowers, a silk tassel, Ederschlingen (decorative loops made of fine metal thread), gemstone settings (small mounts used to hold gemstones or glass pieces in place), and more. There is a hashtag (#) hidden in the image — serving as a symbol of digital networking. In this context, it becomes a metaphor for Mary's mediating social role: intercession.
