The historical memory of the village of Domat/Ems

The historical memory of the village of Domat/EmsThe Kulturarchiv Domat/Ems’s purpose is the professional preservation, promotion and transmission of Domat/Ems’s cultural assets. It collects, preserves, safeguards, and makes available to the public materials that document the village’s history and culture. The collection includes documents and objects of all kinds, acquired from private individuals, associations, companies, and other institutions. The archive’s objective is also to network with other archives, collections, and libraries.

The target audience includes locals, newcomers, and visitors of all ages; members of educational institutions from primary schools to universities; the science, research, and media communities; and various other individuals with a professional or private interest in cultural heritage.

The cultural archive’s premises include the so-called Natè-Museum. The museum presents and provides information on the quirky masks made by the wood carver Albert Anton Willi (1872-1954). In addition, objects from the Cumpagnia da mats, Domat/Ems’s youth organization with a long tradition, are being collected and will also be displayed.

The Kulturarchiv’s funding body is an association governed by private law, which is primarily supported by contributions from the municipality and the Bürgergemeinde/Vischnanca burgaisa [Citizen's Community] Domat/Ems.
